The King is on Dub's playlist this week! I pride myself on being into a lot of different music. If the music is good, odds are I'm going to like it. However, it doesn't matter how many different artists or kinds of music I listen to, Elvis will always be my all time favorite! I've said it before, his music just always puts me in a good mood.
Ever since I was a kid, I've been an Elvis fan. I can still remember singing the words to Elvis' song "Hound Dog" while dancing on my parents bed when I was like six years old. I've seen all of his movies, and I've read books and watched countless documentaries on him. Heck I've been to Graceland in Memphis nine different times.
Elvis has always fascinated me. He was just such a great entertainer. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see any artists today that will be as iconic as Elvis Presley. His music has stood the test of time. Elvis is just as popular today as he was when he was alive. The success of the movie "Elvis" that came out last year is a testament to that.
For an artist like Elvis it was hard to pick a favorite song for Dub's playlist this week. I mean the man had so many hits that spanned the course of three decades. Dub’s Memories From Graceland
I've got a ton of memories from Graceland. On this date back in 1982, Graceland opened to the public. Back then tickets were only $5. How crazy is that? Over the years I've had the chance to visit Graceland nine times. You might be asking, why so many times? Honestly, there's so much to see, and they're always putting new things on display. Its a really cool place to visit.
From a young age, I've been a huge fan of Elvis Presley and his music. So it only makes sense to go and visit his home. The first time I went to Graceland, I was maybe four or five years old. I don't remember much about that trip. The next time I went was in 2007. That time I soaked in every thing I could. I didn't even talk that much on the tour because I was too busy seeing everything.
My brother is the person I've been to Graceland with the most. He shares my love for Elvis' music, in fact he's the one who got me into Elvis in the first place. We started doing the VIP tours, and thats all we'd do. You got to move at your own pace and go through the house and exhibits as many times as you wanted during the day of your tour. Also you got to see exclusive stuff that wasn't on the regular tour.
If you're a fan of Elvis, or if you're just a fan of music and music history, you should definitely visit Graceland. I promise you will leave with a new appreciation for Elvis and all of the things he accomplished and gave to the world of music and pop culture. Back in the day, there were only three channels on TV. Elvis could watch all three at the same time! This was big technology for the time.

I know it may look kinda tacky by today's standards, but in the 70s, this was the jam!
Awards and Stage Costumes
This is Elvis' racquetball court. Its doesn't look like this anymore. They converted it back to a racquetball court. But for years it housed a lot of his stage costumes and gold and platinum records.
Wardrobe From The '68 Comeback Special.
These are two of the most iconic things Elvis ever wore on TV. They're from his '68 Comeback Special.
The Meditation Garden
The tour ends in the Meditation Garden where Elvis, his mother, father grandmother and now his daughter Lisa Marie and grandson Benjamin are buried.
The Pink Cadillac
Elvis gave this car to his mother in the 50s, and its become an image that is synonymous with him.
The Lisa Marie
Elvis had his own private plane named after his daughter. You can see it at Graceland.
