These are the weirdest baby names in the country. You may think that I'm making these up, but I promise you they are 100% legit. How do I know they're legit? Because someone found them on the Social Security Administration's list of official baby names last year. These names are from 2022, which means most of these kids are probably already, or close to a year old now.

I saw this article on Huff Post, and they said when the Social Security Administration releases its annual list of the most popular baby names, the agency also shares broader data around American naming choices. In fact, the SSA tracks all the names given to five or more infants born each year to show the full range of possibilities in this country.

Now listen I'm all for creativity and making your baby's name unique, however remember, they have that name for their entire life! I'm not going to list them all but I will give you some of my personal favorites.

Weird Baby Girl Names

  • Minnow (yes like the little fish we use for bait)
  • Strawberry
  • Delight
  • Sparkle
  • Cinderella

Those are 100% real names, those names were given to at least one baby here in the United States in 2022. Now lets look at the boys.

Weird Baby Boy Names

  • Dragon
  • Rooster
  • Chaos
  • Crash
  • Awesome (yes some one named their baby Awesome and I'll be honest, I think it is...AWESOME!)

Maybe my wife and I weren't super creative with our daughter's name, Madelyn, but at least she isn't going to have to explain her name to everyone she meets. If you want to see the full list of the weirdest baby names from Huff Post, just click here.

Also since we looked at the weirdest baby names, lets take a look back at the most popular ones.

The official list of the most popular baby names is out. This comes from the Social Security Administration, so you know its legit. Apparently not much has really changed as far as the list goes. This year's list looks pretty similar to last year's list. If you're in the process of trying to pick a name for your baby, hopefully this helps.

Last year before our daughter was born, and before we knew we were having a girl, the name picking process was hard. My wife and I had a list of boy names, and a list of girl names. We didn't want something too common. However, we also didn't want something too far out of left field either.

I'm not going to lie, we looked at a few lists like this to help us come up with ideas. There are some beautiful names on this list, but I feel like one is missing from the top 10. Where is Madelyn? Thats not a top 10 name? Really?! I mean I can understand if you go with the different spelling, but its not Top 10? I'm shocked!
