Labor Day Weekend: My Favorite Beach Town In South Carolina
The last great summer getaway is this weekend, and the South Carolina beaches will be packed. We have some good ones here, from Pawleys Island to North Myrtle. Labor Day Weekend: My Favorite Beach Town In South Carolina.
I love the Carolina coast, and having lived in Surfside Beach, SC, I love that area. Garden City, Murrells Inlet, and Cherry Grove are great places to hang out for a few days.
My favorite beach in South Carolina is Folly Beach, just outside of Charleston. This small beach town looks like the beach towns of the 70’s. There is only one beachfront hotel, which started as a Holiday Inn many years ago. Now, it’s The Tides, which has a great restaurant and oceanfront tiki hut-style bar that is as close to the beach as you can get.
Downtown Folly Beach has excellent restaurants, dive bars, and souvenir shops. For the most part, most businesses on Folly are locally owned, which I love.
One of my favorite places on Folly is Lost Dog Cafe, a great breakfast and lunch restaurant. Their roasted coffee is the best I’ve had. I always grab a cup on my way home.
Another plus to visiting Folly is its proximity to Charleston, SC. It’s only about a 20-minute drive and is worth the trip. Charleston is a day trip getaway from Folly and go hungry because the restaurants in Charleston are some of the best in the world.
Enjoy your Labor Day weekend, and have a great time wherever you go!
