One of A Kind Restaurant Announced It Will Be Closing Its Doors This Week

The Munchies Lab in Augusta recently announced that they will be closing down for good. The official last day of operation will be Saturday, September 16.

According to a Facebook post via their business page, they don’t get much foot traffic in the current location. The current location is right outside Downtown Augusta on Walton Way.

They’ve tried to change locations but the concept of the restaurant is a bit “risqué.”

They’ve been turned away for their menu, the concept, and even the logo.

Munchies Lab is owned by Patty and Ramiro who also own Taqueria El Rey in Augusta.

The Munchie Lab owners are hoping this is not a "goodbye" but a see you later as they continue to search for a space that will allow this concept in the CSRA.

What are the CSRA restaurants we miss the most? There was a graphic going around on Facebook and it asked what restaurant isn't around anymore that you wish still was. This is something I knew we could have fun with. So we decided to let you pick the top ones. We took your phone calls and Facebook comments and compiled them all.

It wasn't easy because there were hundreds and hundreds of comments. We learned that y'all love to eat and you love to reminisce. Food brings back memories. All of us had places we went as kids or teenagers and we had so much fun. Unfortunately some of those places aren't around anymore, but the memories are.

Some of these were chain restaurants that are no longer in business. A few of them are still in business other places. And a good chunk of them were local places. These are in no particular order, but are definitely the CSRA restaurants we miss the most.

So many people had great memories of this place! There were three local locations, and fun fact the franchise was started right here in Augusta back in 1962.

I remember going to the one on Peach Orchard Rd quite a bit when I was a kid.

There are still Shoney's out there, unfortunately just none here in the CSRA anymore.

This was a staple growing up. The steaks, the buffet, the desert bar, it was all so good. So many birthdays were celebrated at Ryans back in the day.

This is another place where a lot of our family birthdays were spent. Unfortunately a fire closed T's down a few years ago, but we can still think about how good the hushpuppies were.

When Best Buy and Regal Cinema were on Augusta West Parkway, Dizzy Chicken was right there. So many people would go there either before or after a movie at Regal.

This was a great downtown spot! My brother worked there for several years and still talks about how good it was.

The one I remember was on Georgia Ave. in North Augusta and the sandwiches were so good!

I never had the chance to eat here, it closed in the mid-90s, but people still talk about the Green Jacket Salad. You can find the recipe for it online.

There were two locations in the CSRA in the mid 2000s and it was the sauce for me! The sauce is what kept me going back!

The original one was in National Hills, and then it moved to Washington Rd. where the current Metro Diner is. Many nights were spent at Somewhere watching the game, a UFC fight, or just grabbing food before a night at The Country Club (remember that place?)

This was a favorite of people who lived and worked downtown for years! Unfortunately I never got to eat there, but my grandfather did almost every day when he worked at The Augusta Chronicle.

This one got a lot of comments on Facebook, I never had the chance to go here, but a lot of you had so many great memories.

The building no longer exists on Washington Rd, but the memories of the Jack Daniels ribs can never be erased!
