We are getting closer to Kicks 99 Guitar Pull 2023.  And we are so excited for the return of Scotty McCreery.  Since his win on American Idol, Scotty has made a great name for himself. He's had many great hits and we know Kicks Country are big fans.  Not only will we have Scotty back in Augusta for Guitar Pull, we'll have a new Scotty McCreery album out too.

New Scotty McCreery

So, what can we expect with the new album? With his past albums, Scotty has shared some of his personal life through the words in his songs.  We share the heartbreak from the death of his grandfather in "Five More Minutes." And then get a peek at the happiness and love with his wife with songs like "This Is It" and "It Matters To Her."

But, according to an interview Scotty did with Music Mayhem Magazine, we may see a different side of the singer. He says this album will be "less autobiographical than previous records."

That doesn't mean he won't still have songs that pay tribute to his wife and almost 1-year-old son, Avery. According to Scotty, there is a song for Avery and a song for his wife, Gabi, on the album. And there will be heartbreak songs too.  But there will also be "some honky tonk songs" and other things we haven't seen on his other albums.

On the new album, Scotty really pulls from the '90s country music he grew up with. That was the goal when they sat down to write the songs. He wanted to tell those type of stories and pay tribute to that more traditional sound.

The First Single "Cab In A Solo"

According to a review written for American Songwriter, Scotty tapped into the "storytelling nature of '90s country." And I agree.

When I first heard "Cab In A Solo," I immediately got a nostalgic feeling.  The sound definitely has a 90s vibe to it.  And the part where he talks about the shadows kissin' on the wall reminds me of Rhett Akins' song "That Ain't My Truck," where he sings, "That ain't my shadow on the wall..."

When the song was released, Scotty posted on Instagram:

"Cab In A Solo was born in the mountains of North Carolina while me and my buddies were around the fire writing country music, I hope y’all love it as much as I do."

More About The Album

There apparently has been talk about some collaborations.  Scotty says there are a couple of songs that could potentially be collaborations, and one in particular that they went into it looking for that outcome.

There's no title or release date for the new Scotty McCreery album.  He told Music Mayhem Magazine that they'd just recently finished up in the studio.  And we have to wonder... will he share more with us at Kicks 99's Guitar Pull?  We hope so!
