Serving Great Hot Dogs In This Historic South Carolina Town Since 1932
This small restaurant in Abbeville has been Serving Hot Dogs In This Historic South Carolina Town Since 1932. Abbeville, SC, looks like a set from a Hollywood movie. It has the town square, great shops and a green space to sit and people watch.
The Rough House
It also has hot dogs…..great hot dogs. Ninety-one years of hot dog goodness. The Rough House looks like it’s stuck in the 1930s. A long counter with stools, the old 1930 ceiling fans cooling the place, and a wood floor that creaks when you walk.
The Rough House opened during the Great Depression and was, and still is, a gathering place for locals to enjoy great food and play a game of pool. Small-town life at its best. It’s one of those places where everyone seems to know just about everybody who walks in the door.
An Opera House, Too
The charm of Abbeville has been discovered by people passing through and hearing about it, and has become a place that people love to visit. The Abbeville Opera House is just down the street from The Rough House, and people come from all over for events.
All The Way
But now, let’s get back to the hot dogs! First, this place is stuck in time. It’s almost like everything slows down when you walk in and take a seat. I ordered two hot dogs and a bag of chips. I had my hot dogs “all the way” with mustard, onions, and chili. They were so good, and the chili was delicious. Serving Great Hot Dogs In This Historic South Carolina Town Since 1932.
