Can You Really Wash Your Hair With Beer?

Apparently, you can wash your hair with beer. I know, I was just as surprised as you were when I read that. However, there are actually people out there to…

Grab a can of beer from your fridge and get ready to transform your locks! Believe it or not, beer can be used as an unconventional yet effective hair cleanser. It may sound strange, but beer contains proteins and nutrients that can nourish your hair and give it a beautiful shine. To wash your hair with beer, start by opening a can or bottle and allowing it to go flat, as the carbonation can be too harsh for your scalp. Once flat, you can either use the beer directly or mix it with water to dilute it slightly. While in the shower, pour the beer over your hair, making sure to massage it into your scalp. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the nutrients to penetrate your hair follicles, then rinse thoroughly with water. Keep in mind that beer may not be suitable for everyone, especially those with allergies, sensitivities, or specific hair conditions. It’s always a good idea to test a small patch of hair before applying it all over your scalp.

Apparently, you can wash your hair with beer. I know, I was just as surprised as you were when I read that. However, there are actually people out there to back up this crazy claim. So if y'all see me out here taking a Michelob Ultra to the shower with me, mind ya business! I'm just trying to keep my hair healthy.

According to an article on Healthline, washing your hair with beer can make your hair softer, shinier, and healthier overall. It has to do with the malt, hops and iron in the beer, apparently that's what's good for your hair. But I'm sure you're thinking, anyone can say anything on the internet, but does this actually work?

Does The Beer Make Your Hair Healthier?

Healthline says there's no real evidence that it works. Some people have tried it however, and they say it does work! Of course everyone has a different opinion though. There are people who say that the alcohol in the beer could strip away the natural oils in your hair. They recommend using non-alcoholic beer.

One hair stylist had a different approach though.  They said just fill a spray bottle with flat beer, spritz your hair with it, and DON'T wash it out.  They claim it's better as a leave-in conditioner.  The only downside is people will think you just came from a tailgate party or something. If you want to try washing your hair with beer, here are the steps to do it.

1.  Open a beer and let it go flat.  You don't want the carbon dioxide in the bubbles.  It creates hard water which isn't good for your hair.

2.  Wash and condition your hair like normal. The beer is just an extra step.

3.  Massage it into your scalp, and leave it in for a few minutes.  No one agrees on how long.  Anywhere from 3 to 15 minutes.  Then rinse it out.

There ya go, if you want to try it, let us know if it works for you or not. In the mean time, if you want to check out the full article from Healthline, just click here.

Speaking of beer, lets check out some of the local beer Augusta has to offer.

Annually, May 22 is recognized as National Craft Distillery Day. This national day aims to raise awareness of craft distilleries that produce spirits in small batches - rather than big brand names. Local distilleries in Augusta continue to grow in popularity.

Apart of celebrating National Craft Distillery Day is having a glass of handcrafted spirits locally. But that's only if you're over the age of 21! The cool part about being local to Augusta, is there are a couple of distilleries in the area.

Here is a list of distilleries and breweries in the CSRA.

2nd City Distilling Co.
