Pedestrian Killed Thursday on Gordon Highway Identified

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen has released the name of the pedestrian who was killed Thursday night in the 1600 block of Gordon Highway.

Bowen said 43-year-old Tabitha Grooms of Augusta was hit by a vehicle. And she was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:14 pm last night.  No word if any charges will be filed against the driver.

Higher Number of Pedestrian Fatalities This Year

There have been a rash of fatal accidents involving pedestrians in the area this year.  Gordon Highway, Mike Padgett Highway and Peach Orchard Road have been the sites of multiple pedestrian fatalities in Richmond County.
