A new southern homestyle restaurant is in town and it seems to already be making a big hit! The Country Shack just held its soft opening yesterday, November 30, and sold out!
The new restaurant is owned by Latonya Rahney. It is located at 2052 Gordon Hwy Augusta, GA.
The menu for yesterday was this:
Salisbury steak, Mississippi, pot, roast, Alfredo, baked spaghetti, fried chicken, fried pork chops, vegetables, macaroni and cheese, rutabaga, green beans, butter, beans, rice and gravy, fried corn, fried okra, desserts, snicker, bar cake, Key Lime cake, red velvet cake, sour cream, poundcake, cookie pudding.
Also homemade lemonade and homemade strawberry lemonade, sweet tea, and Coke products.
I would imagine the menu will look similar day to day with different southern food options.
I don't think we will ever get tired of seeing the words "New restaurant in Augusta" ! Keep 'em coming.
In the last year we've gotten a lot of good news when it comes to new restaurants opening in town.
Just a few months ago Coleman's Lunch Box opened in the former location of Munchies Lab. Munchies Lab was also a newer restaurant that came in the past year but unfortunately had to close.
Coleman's Lunch Box menu includes wings, burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, hamburgers and more!
Another new restaurant that has come to the Augusta area is Granddaddy's Kitchen. They are located in Appling on Pollards Corner, where the former Maryland's Fried Chicken was.
Similar to The Country Shack, the restaurant specializes in southern cuisine as well.
Being in the south, we can't have enough southern style restaurants can we? Of course not!
Another cool thing about these new restaurants is that they are only local to Augusta! Family owned and operated restaurants are such a unique experience. It's something the city can really get behind and support.

Today, June 23, is recognized as National Family Owned and Operated Businesses Day. A day to salute family-owned and operated businesses that are surviving and thriving through this economy. In Augusta, we are fortunate enough to have tons of family-owned and operated businesses. This holiday includes all types of businesses. We are going to focus on the restaurants that are run by a family. So not just locally owned restaurants, but those where it's family owned and family run. It's cool to find out which places are a family-owned restaurant in Augusta.
Visiting a family-owned and operated business is always a special experience. If they only have locations in your area, you are getting a one-of-a-kind meal. And not everybody that is outside of that area can get that meal on a daily. Another reason it is a special experience is that they often strive to be customer friendly and make you feel at home.
