Charles Wesley Godwin Is On Dub’s Playlist This Week
I can’t get this song by Charles Wesley Godwin out of my head. So since it’s stuck in my head, I figured I might as well get it stuck in yours as well. Listen, I can’t be alone in this. This is a song that I don’t think you’ll mind being stuck in your head though. Hopefully, y’all enjoy it as much as I do, so I’m spotlighting it on Dub’s Playlist this week.
Who Is Charles Wesley Godwin?
He’s from Morgantown, West Virginia, and he went to West Virginia University. While he was in school there he started playing guitar and writing songs. Charles said that some of his major musical influences are artists like Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Ryan Bingham. He’s really only been releasing music for a few years though.
His first album “Seneca” came out in 2019, and then he released another album “How the Mighty Fall” in 2021. Charles’ latest album “Family Ties” that came out last year is the one that’s really getting people talking. It was voted one of the best albums of 2023. Another thing that has helped get Charles some exposure is going out on tour with Zach Bryan.
Not only has he toured with Zach, but he was also featured on Zach’s “Summertime Blues” EP. If you like artists like Zach Bryan, I think you’ll like Charles as well. He’s got a really unique sound, which is something I think we could definitely use more of in country music right now. In my opinion Charles’ music makes you stop and go “who is that? I dig that”. At least, that’s what I said when I heard him. Hopefully y’all feel the same way.

This week’s song is “Cue Country Roads”.
I told you Charles’ latest album was considered one of the best ones that came out in 2023. I’ll totally agree with that, and these are some of the other albums that I really liked from last year.
Dub's Favorite Country Albums Of 2023
It’s time to share my favorite country albums of 2023. As you know, a lot of awesome music came out this year. I tried to listen to as much of it as I could. However, like it is every year, certain albums stuck out to me a little more than others. There were certain albums I just kept going back to.
I look forward to Fridays for a lot of reasons. First off, it’s the start of the weekend of course, but all of the new music always comes out on Fridays as well. When I wake up on Fridays the first thing I do is look to see what new music is out. After I see what all is out, I decide what I will listen to first, then second, and so on.
There were lots of big time country stars who released albums this year. And for the most part the ones I was really looking forward to didn’t disappoint. The way I’m doing this is just based on the albums I really liked this year. This list is in no particular order. The only order I tried to do is sort them based on when they came out during the year.
If you’re looking to listen to what I thought was the best of the year, then you’ll wanna binge these albums. However, I’m betting that y’all have already heard a bunch of these, and I also bet y’all probably loved them as much as I did.
You’re about to see my list, but these are the albums Billboard thought were the best of 2023. You can check out their list here.
