Cody Johnson Halts Show: ‘This is Not A Travis Scott Concert’
Cody Johnson played a show on his “Leather Tour” over the weekend, and when one fan was in a tight spot and needed some help, Cody stopped the show.
During a show over the weekend, Johnson stopped the music and pointed to the front row, telling security and the crowd, “Can we get some medical attention on the front row, please? This is not a Travis Scott concert. We will stop to help people out.”
Cody was referring to the fatal crowd crush at the Astroworld festival in November of 2021 when ten people were killed at a Travis Scott concert in Houston, Texas.
Johnson told the crowd as soft music played, “You all just sit tight. As soon as we figure this out, we will continue with the show.” He made sure the medics were on the scene, then said, “This is about you. This isn’t about me. So we’re going to stop to take care of this young lady before we do anything else.”
In the video clip posted by a fan who was at the show, you cannot see the woman who needed help, and there is no word about what the problem was, but Cody’s action was swift. Many people reacted to the post’s comments, including one fan who wrote, “Cody is the man. Such a class act.”

Johnson kicked off her “2024 The Leather Tour” in January. Cody told us that his tour will feature high-energy shows.
In a recent interview, Johnson discussed his philosophy. “We play this show like it’s the last show we’re ever going to play. This is the show we get remembered for. I hit the stage with the exact same mentality and the exact same intensity every single night. Because we’re not guaranteed tomorrow, you gotta play it like it’s the last one.”
He added, “You gotta play it with the same intensity as if you’re never going to get to do it again. Now, after the fact, we can be like, ‘Man, that was cool,’ but when you’re in the moment, leave no doubt, leave nothing behind, make sure they remember your name.”
Cody’s “The Leather Tour” will be hitting dates in the US and Canada now through the middle of August.
