Some new Major League Baseball teams could be coming sooner rather than later. From what I'm reading, there are two major cities that are leading contenders for getting teams. Also, from what I'm seeing these two cities may be waiting a little longer than they'd like to in order to get their teams.

Which Cities Are Possibly Getting Major League Teams?

According to an article on WhiskeyRiff, the leading contenders for new MLB teams are Salt Lake City and Nashville. I think that a baseball team in Nashville would be awesome! Of course, I'm a diehard Braves fan, but it would be cool to have another team in the South. Yeah, I know there are teams in Florida, but I'm talking about the actual South.

I didn't really realize it until I read Whiskey Riff's article, but the last new teams came into the league back in 1998. Those teams were the Tampa Bay Devilrays and the Arizona Diamondbacks. That brought the total number of teams in the MLB to 30. However, in recent years they're saying the expansion to 32 teams is "inevitable". I mean, there are 32 NFL teams, so it's not out of the ordinary for a league to have 32 teams.

But it could be a while before we see these new teams. Those in the know within the inner workings of Major League Baseball are saying that the expansion may not happen until 2030! What?! Why are we waiting that long? That doesn't make much sense to me. What does make sense though is Nashville getting a team. The news came out a while back that they're building a new stadium for the Tennessee Titans. They want it to be open in time for the 2027 season. Could the Titans and a future baseball team share the stadium? I guess we'll just have to see.

Speaking of Major League Baseball, check out some of the best MLB stadiums to visit.

The Best Major League Baseball Stadiums To Visit

What are the best Major League Baseball stadiums to visit? We're in the thick of baseball season, and theres nothing better than being at a game in person. But what are the best atmospheres for baseball? Is it one of the iconic and historic stadiums, or is it one of the newer and more modern parks? Lets find out.

According to Sports Illustrated, these are the best stadiums to visit. They ranked all 30 stadiums from worst to best. I wonder if you'll agree with this list or not. SI ranked Tropicana Field, where the Rays play, as the worst stadium in the league. They chalk the low ranking up to such poor attendance. Hard to enjoy great baseball atmosphere when theres no one there.

So where did our Atlanta Braves fall on SI's list? Truist Park was number 17 on the list. Not even top 15? What the heck?! SI chalked the low ranking up to the fact that Truist Park sits so far outside the city limits of Atlanta. It is a great place to watch a game though, so don't let this ranking throw you.

This one was a surprise to me, Yankee Stadium wasn't in the Top 15 either. The iconic Yankee Stadium came in at number 16 on the list. Even Dodger Stadium, another iconic baseball venue barely cracked the Top 15. It claimed the 15th spot. So what teams made the top of the list? Heres the Top Five!

PNC Park in Pittsburgh

PNC Park, where the Pittsburgh Pirates play landed in the Number One spot. Sports Illustrated claimed it was because the entire city of Pittsburgh is the backdrop for the stadium. It really is a cool site. I'd love to check out a game there, and Lord knows I'm not a Pirates fan.

Oracle Park in San Francisco

The home of The Giants was the runner up on the best Major League Baseball stadiums to visit list from Sports Illustrated. San Francisco Bay is the backdrop to this stadium, and thats why it claimed the number two spot.

Fenway Park in Boston

If Fenway Park didn't make the Top Five I was going to be shocked. Sports Illustrated says that Fenway's mixture of baseball history and all of the modern comforts is what landed it at number 3 on the list.

Petco Park in San Diego

Petco Park, the home of The Padres claimed the number four spot on SI's list. They said it was because of its downtown location, and the Southern California weather.

Wrigley Field in Chicago

Another historic baseball stadium landed in the Top Five, and I'm totally cool with that. The home of the Chicago Cubs is steeped in baseball history. From the ivy walls in the outfield, to the historic marquee outside. Its Wrigley's history that landed it inside the Top Five, as well it should!
