North Augusta’s Six Favorite Restaurants
There was a time when everyone complained that North Augusta didn’t have enough options for dining out, but that seems to be changing. The area now has some great lunch or night-out options. Here is the unofficial list of North Augusta’s six favorite restaurants in no particular order.
The Feed Sack
First, a few of the newer ones. The Feed Sack is off Exit 5 in North Augusta, a rapidly growing area. They also have a location in Aiken. This is not your typical strip center eatery. You’ll see that as soon as you enter. It has a very cool bar, the atmosphere is excellent, and the menu has a little bit of everything.
Peppercorn Crusted Filet, Citrus Soy Glazed Salmon, and Three Cheese Lasagna are just a few items on their menu. They also have burgers and sandwiches like their signature chicken salad, and this sounds fabulous: a Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, which is Feed Sack fingers drizzled with hot honey sauce, dill pickles, and their signature tender sauce on a butter-toasted potato bun. It gets better. You can add pimento cheese for an additional fifty cents. I’m in!
The Feed Sack hours are 11 AM-11 PM, Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sunday.
McNeely’s Place Restaurant
If you’re looking for a great lunch, this is your place. The menu changes daily, and it’s located in the old Davenport location, downtown North Augusta.
A sample of their daily menu is fried pork chops, sausage, shrimp, chicken gumbo, and Grandma’s chicken pot pie. You’ll also see lots of veggies here, like collard greens, pinto beans with ham, and mac and cheese. Again, their menu changes daily. They have salads and delicious desserts, too.
McNeely’s opens daily from 11 AM to 3 PM, Tuesday through Friday, and after church on Sunday.
Antonio’s Italian Eatery
Antonios, downtown on Georgia Avenue, is a North Augusta favorite for lunch and dinner. They have great subs and authentic Italian pizza. It’s small and usually busy, but the customers are loyal, including this guy, and we all keep going back for more. Try the Chicken Special sub!
Antonio’s is open every day from 11 AM to 9 PM except for Sunday and Monday when they’re closed. Saturday hours are 12 noon til 9 PM.
The Sno-Cap
The Sno-Cap has been around for a long time. Over six decades! But, the Usry’s bought this diner a few years ago and started making some changes while keeping it the same. In other words, in my opinion, it’s better than ever. The burgers are some of the best in the area, and the nostalgia still shines through, complete with the original curb hop order boards that they brought back in working order from the 60s.
A typical lunch here is a burger with fries. The menu has a lot more than that, but that’s what I usually order. The burger comes with an American Flag on top. Love it!
This is also home to the only Taylor Swift appearance in the CSRA. When she was starting out, she came through and had dinner at the Sno-Cap and sang a few songs. She would probably draw a larger crowd now!
Sno-Cap is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 9 PM and is closed on Sundays.
Brinkley’s Chop House
Feeling boujee? North Augusta has a high-end steak house for you. Come hungry and order an Old Fashioned while waiting for your Signature Brinkley’s 16-ounce Duck Fat Delmonico or your 40-ounce Tomahawk Ribeye.
This is special occasion dining at its best, complete with complimentary valet parking. It’s an excellent addition to the North Augusta dining scene at SRP Park at Hammond’s Ferry.
Try the Crispy Szechuan Brussels Sprouts with pork belly, peanuts, scallion, and cilantro for your side. The jumbo onion rings sound delicious, too.
Brinkley’s is open Monday through Thursday, 4 PM to 10 PM. Saturday noon til 10 PM and Sunday Noon til 9 PM.
Wifesaver
Who doesn’t love Wifesaver? This is the Augusta-North Augusta go-to for Southern cooking. Serving up mac and cheese, fried chicken, and sweet tea since 1965. To give you an idea of how long ago that was, a base model Ford F-150 sold new in 1965 for $2,395.
Pass the banana pudding, please.
Many of the original recipes are still being served at this legendary restaurant. Wifesaver is open for lunch and dinner.
See you soon at one of North Augusta’s Six Favorite Restaurants!
