In Search Of The Masters Gnome
Yesterday, I had the good luck of enjoying round one of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club. I did a lot of walking, watching some great golf and people watching. It was a great day and I’m grateful I got to go.
My first stop was the Pro Shop. You can spend a lot of money here without realizing it and I came ready. I usually get a couple of hats, coasters, golf shirts, and T-shirts. On my way to checkout, I came face to face with “it” as I headed to the checkout. “It” is what everyone is talking about.
The Masters Gnome.
The hard-to-get little guy that sells out very quickly. You can buy only one and I got him. $49.50 is a small price to pay to be cool. I decided to go back to my car instead of walking around with it all day. My friend was smarter; he took advantage of the Master’s check-in service. They’ll hold it for you until you’re ready to leave. They can also ship to your home if you would like.
On my way to my car in the parking lot, people were looking at it and, I’m sure, wondering if they could make it in time to get one themselves. As I said, they sell out quickly, but I’m told they restock the following day. I would suggest getting there early. We did and stood in line for about 20 minutes. Once inside, it is a golfer’s dream. They have something for every golf fan, including the Master’s Gnome, and everything is top quality.
I’m not sure what I’ll do with him, but I have one, and that’s the most important thing, right? Next time, I’ll check mine in the pro shop instead of walking back to the parking lot to put it in my car. That’s a long walk!
Hope you snag a Masters Gnome if you go. Also, enjoy this Masters cocktail while you’re watching the tournament this weekend.
