Weird Laws In Georgia And South Carolina That Are Totally Real
These weird laws that I found from Georgia and South Carolina are going to sound like they’re made up. However, they are 100% real, and I’m assuming still on the books. I don’t know if some of them are truly enforceable or not, but I’m not going to be the one to find out. What I really want to know is, why are these actual laws? Who came up with these?!
You’re Not Going To Believe These Laws Are Real – But They Are!
I’ve always been fascinated by weird laws in every state. Especially ones in Georgia and South Carolina because that’s our area. In fact, years ago on The Kicks Wake Up Krew, we did a video segment called “Breaking The Law”. In that segment, I would video myself breaking different weird laws from other states. Yep, I’m a criminal! I broke several laws. The statute of limitations has probably run out, so I think I’m safe to confess now.
Let’s start with Georgia. These laws are 100% real and 100% weird.
I found these on Secret Atlanta. Did you know that in Acworth, Georgia that all citizens must own a rake? Do the Acworth police go door to door on random rake checks? Okay, how about this one, in Atlanta, it is illegal to tie a giraffe to a street lamp or telephone pole. Is that really that big of an issue in the ATL? You can’t even own a giraffe as a pet in Georgia!
Here are a few more. Did you know that in Athens you can’t use a slingshot in the city limits? Also in Athens, you can’t give away goldfish in order to entice people to play bingo. Yep, that is 100% real! Apparently, this was a big enough issue in Athens at some point that they had to make it an actual law!
Now let’s get to South Carolina. These weird laws came from WPDE. Did you know that it is illegal to work on Sunday in South Carolina? And kind of following along with that, all dancing in clubs must end by midnight on Saturday night in South Carolina. Also, you can’t buy silverware on Sunday in South Carolina, but what if we need forks? Gotta wait ’til Monday!
You can Google any of these weird Georgia and South Carolina laws if you don’t believe me, but trust me they’re all real. So be careful, I don’t want to see any of y’all getting busted for breaking any of these laws. You can’t say you didn’t know.
