KICKS 99's Guitar Pull has grown over the years!

The First Guitar Pull in Augusta was a little different than the ones many of you have seen. About 400 people attended, and it was at Sacred Heart Cultural Center in downtown Augusta. The tickets were homemade by the radio station's marketing director. (Shout out to Angie!).

The lineup was Doug Stone, Chely Wright, Micheal Peterson, The Wilkinsons, and the Warren Brothers.

Where are they today?

Doug Stone is still touring and doing what he loves. He has had a very successful career.

Chely Wright is married and has a “real job.” However, a recent look at her website shows no dates on her tour schedule.

Michael Peterson is still doing some shows around the country.

The Wilkinsons. As of 2023, Amanda and Tyle still perform together when they can. However, their dad has retired. Their big hit was “26 Cents”

The Warren Brothers were recently back on stage in Evans at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center with KICKS 99’s Songwriters Series. After a successful touring career, they have written songs for Nashville’s biggest artists, like “Red Solo Cup” for Toby Keith, along with songs for Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, and more.

Now, the KICKS 99 Guitar Pull is celebrating its 25th year this year, and it will be a big celebration. It’s come a long way in 25 years! Proceeds from the guitar pull benefit the United Way of Augusta.

Tee has worked with KICKS 99 for over 24 years as Operations Manager and Program Director and is on-air each afternoon 3p-7p. When he’s not working, you’ll find him traveling the back roads, taking pictures, and searching for the next dive diner. Favorite place to visit? That’s easy. Folly Beach, SC. He’s usually there at least a few times a year. He lives in North Augusta and on Saturdays in the fall, you’ll find him cooking out and watching his Clemson Tigers. Tee likes to write about travel, Augusta local dive bars and diners and destinations in the Carolinas, as well as new business.
