A new list of the best cities in Georgia has come out, and Evans has found itself on the top of the list. The Augusta Chronicle posted about a USA Today Homefront study that ranked 32 different cities throughout the state of Georgia. They used 16 different metrics to come up with this list, so let's dig into the details a little more.

Evans Is At The Top Of The List

Of the 32 cities that USA Today ranked, Evans landed at number two on the best cities in Georgia list! Like I said earlier, there were 16 metrics used to create this list. Those included crime rates, unemployment rates, and income to home affordability ratios among other things.

Here is the list of the top five best cities in Georgia.

  • Kennesaw
  • Evans
  • Albany
  • Duluth
  • Valdosta

According to the USA Today article Evans scored highly for having the lowest crime rate of the 32 cities and one of the lowest unemployment rates (just 2.5%). Evans also has top-rated schools, rated 9 out of 10 by NeighborhoodScout, and it’s ranked third best for home affordability. The typical home value is over three times the median household income.

Augusta was also on the list, it checked in at number 20. This may seem a little low, but it was higher than Savannah, which was number 27, and Atlanta which was number 23.

I can tell you, Evans is definitely on the come-up. The "downtown" Evans area has become a favorite spot for our family. Between Evans Town Center Park and the Evans Market, we love going there on a Saturday morning. I'll be honest, I was a little skeptical, I thought "How can you just build a downtown area?!" Well, Evans has done it, and they've done a great job. I look forward to seeing where the growth goes over the next several years.
