Augusta has installed 10 fresh sculptures on its downtown art path, set to stand for two years. The Greater Augusta Arts Council will hold a ceremonial unveiling at the 8th Street Riverwalk Plaza.

Since 2020, the Greater Augusta Arts Council has watched over these outdoor displays. The new works will dot the downtown area, stretching from the Riverwalk to the 5th Street Bridge.

Art fans can purchase these works for private or public spaces. Past buyers have gifted their picks back to Augusta, building up the city's open-air gallery one piece at a time.

Right now, 18 pieces stand along the trail. Local talent and international artists alike have left their mark. Visitors wander the path year-round, taking in each unique creation.

Back in 2020, when COVID-19 kept everyone indoors, the Arts Council envisioned this outdoor project as a chance to spark life into the downtown scene.

Festivities begin at 11 a.m. on May 2.

Opening day guests snag free passes to a special tour on May 3. At noon, guides relate stories behind each new piece.

Fresh art rotates in every other year. This switch keeps regular visitors coming back and opens doors for more creators to show off their skills.
