Plans show Amazon will construct a 169,104-square-foot delivery station in Augusta. The site sits on 45 acres where Meridian Brick once stood. The spot's rich past includes brick production dating to the 1930s.

This construction fits into a bigger picture. The web retail titan has an ambitious $15 billion plan to build 80 shipping hubs across America.

The site changed hands in 2018. EdenCrete Industries bought it to make concrete mix-ins. Later, their Australian parent firm Eden Innovations sold the $5 million land to shift U.S. work to Colorado.

Amazon already runs one major site nearby. Their 600,000-square-foot center started work in Columbia County's White Oak Business Park near Appling in 2021, bringing 800 jobs to the area.
