Walmart is putting $1.1 billion into renovating 650 stores across 47 states and Puerto Rico next year. Five stores within the Augusta area will be renovated, along with improvements to 20 other stores across the state.
Augusta will see remodels at 300 South Belair Rd, 260 Bobby Jones Expressway, and 3851 Evans to Locks Rd. The surrounding metropolitan area will get renovations at 5010 Steiner Way in Grovetown and 3697 Windsor Spring Rd in Hephzibah.
Customers will see new signs, better displays, and bigger departments. The company wants to beef up its online presence by making pickup and delivery areas better as more people shop online.
The renovations will create some temporary jobs. Once finished, stores might need more permanent workers.
