A $3 million investment transformed the old Municipal Building at 214 Park Ave. SW. into the new headquarters for the 2nd Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office. A celebration for the new location was held on June 27, 2025.

"It's priceless to have all my employees under one roof instead of spread out across town," said Solicitor Bill Weeks to The Post and Courier. "It also helps for the victims (of crime) to have more space so we can meet with them and talk to them."

Aiken County Government announced in a Facebook post that they are relieved to consolidate staff and solve overcrowding issues at the County Court House. Before the move, staff was split unevenly between the Judicial Center, Government Center, and Reynolds Building.

In April 2024, the county bought the building from Aiken City for $2.4 million. Built in 1938, the site's ties to the city stretch back to 1884.

Security upgrades topped the renovation priorities, according to Deputy Solicitor Ashley Hammack. The front lobby now tracks visitors with new monitoring systems. Workers also refreshed the space with paint and carpeting.

Serving Aiken, Bamberg, and Barnwell counties, this office eases the squeeze at the Aiken County Judicial Center. The move frees up much-needed space in the courthouse.
