Ben Lacy's winning pup took home a trophy, a $500 pet supply gift card, a professional photo session, and unlimited access to the SPCA's dog park for a year. The brewery will create a special brew with Katie's image on the label.
"She's our mascot at the Palm Pickle Park where it's the premier pickle park in Aiken," Lacy said, according to the Aiken Standard.
Second place went to Ginny, with proud owner Alyssa Myatt. Beau and owner Yolanda Olsen took third. Both earned gift cards and prizes for their achievements.
The partnership clicked naturally for brewery owner Andrew Phifer. His company's logo shows his own SPCA rescue pup. "The best dog I could ever have, the original good girl, the inspiration for the branding for our business," Phifer said.
The funds will support the SPCA Albrecht Center's mission to care for over 1,000 animals yearly. They provide shelter, medical attention, meals, and enrichment.
