Congratulations are in order! A Georgia cheerleading team is making its way to Florida for the first time. The high school cheerleading team is off to the national championship competition in Orlando, Florida.

The Collins Hill High School cheerleading team won the 6A state championship in December. WRDW reports that the win would normally have ended their season, as the Georgia High School Association bylaws prohibit out-of-state travel. But that didn't stop this team!

Cheerleaders, coaches, parents, administrators, and more all began writing letters and emails and making calls to get the team to Florida. It took some time, but right before Christmas, they heard some good news.

After fighting to compete, they won and ended up getting cleared to travel to Florida for the championship game. This was the first time the team had won the state title.

“Nationals, that’s all we can look at. We are the first team to ever be able to go from Georgia, so we have to be able to go and represent. We’ve gotta bring something back and put Georgia on that map,” said Senior Cheerleader, Aarelyn Starr, to WRDW.

Now, the team is working to raise $40,000 to get them to Orlando. They are selling shirts, accepting donations, and so much more.
