The Kicks Wake Up Krew

Weekday Mornings 5:30 - 10:00

All clean and swaddled and ready to be loved on.

Baby Maddie is here! I didn’t think I’d be saying those words until at least the beginning of October. However she is here, and she is perfect. It was a pretty eventful few days leading up to her arrival. Let me  do my best to make a long story as short as possible. Things started last Wednesday when Kelsey went in for her check up. Her doctor was worried she was dealing with a lot of symptoms of preeclampsia. If you want to know exactly what that means, just click here. I had to Google it too don’t worry.

Kelsey’s doctor let her go home, but said she wanted to check her again on Thursday. When Kelsey went back the next day, not much had changed. The doctors didn’t want to take any chances, so they decided to induce Kelsey at 8pm on Thursday night. Needless to say, the rest of the day Thursday was a little nerve wracking. A little after 10, Kelsey’s doctors began her induction, Baby Maddie was on the way, well kinda.

Check out some of the pictures of Baby Maddie as she grew throughout the year.

These were the last pictures we saw, before we got to see her in person.

As we got into Friday, not much had changed. Without giving you too much information, Kelsey wasn’t dilating as quickly as the doctors wanted her to. We had a decision to make, keep waiting or have a C section. Kelsey and I decided to have the C section. Once the decision was made, things moved really quickly. From the time the doctors ordered the C section to the time Baby Maddie was born, was roughly 45 minutes.

Madelyn Grace was born Friday September 16th at 6:03pm. She weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 19 inches long. She is the most perfect and beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. A lot of the day I find myself just staring at her, realizing the miracle she is. Kelsey and I want to give a HUGE thank you to the nurses and staff at AU Health. They were so sweet to us and we can’t thank them enough for all they did for us during our stay.

Here are some pictures to walk you through the events of Baby Maddie’s birth.
