Cody’s Puppy Turns One Year Old

It's my puppy's birthday!  Or at least that's what we're going to say.  We got Waylon back in September when my fiancé, David, found him on his job site.  At that point, we think he was around 2 months old.  So, we will celebrate his "gotcha day" on September 15th, but today we will celebrate his first birthday.

We chose July 25th because my Lab's birthday was May 25th.  Harley's birthday is April 25th.  So, it just seemed fitting to have his birthday on the 25th of the month too. I can't believe my BABY is a year old though.  Just recently, I was looking at him and couldn't believe how much he looks like a grown dog versus a puppy.  And at the beach, he just seemed to have grown up so much.

Now, while he is a year old, he still acts SO much like a puppy.  And there are many things I hope he never stops doing - like the head tilt and stretching out on his belly. I love watching him as he learns new things and explores the world. He still has a lot that he's afraid of, but he's gotten a lot better at some things. Riding in the Jeep is something that he was terrified about.  But the past few times we've had to ride, he's jumped up in there all by himself. And instead of cowering down in the seat the whole time, he sits up and looks around, and sticks his nose out the window.
