Cody/BMG AugustaWhat a weekend it was in the CSRA! Fall is in the air, and there were so many great things going on in the area. There were Fall Festivals, the Georgia Carolina State Fair, the Western Carolina State Fair, and the Miracle Mile Walk in Downtown Augusta. It was a beautiful weekend to get out and enjoy it, and I hope you had a chance to! Check out all the photos below.
Miracle Mile in Downtown Augusta
My Saturday morning kicked off with the Miracle Mile Walk. This is one of my favorite events this time of year. Of course, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a cause I'm very passionate about. While no one in my immediate family has been diagnosed, I have had close friends who have battled breast cancer.
I was asked to help emcee the event, and after the opening ceremony, a group of us walked in support of our friend and co-worker, Crystal Grant, who was battling breast cancer just last year.
This is the third year I've been a part of the Miracle Mile Walk in Downtown Augusta. And I have to say, I think this may have been the biggest turnout I've seen! The Augusta Common looked PACKED from where I was on the stage. It was a sea of pink. So many people showed up to honor, remember, and support those who have fought breast cancer. It was emotional to see how many people have been diagnosed and fought that battle. Seeing all the survivors is such a powerful moment!
Lunch In Edgefield
After the Miracle Mile, we drove to Edgefield to see some friends. And when we're in Edgefield, we LOVE to go to the Edgefield Pool Room. By this point, I was starving. So, I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger. While I was eating it, I'm like... maybe I shouldn't have gotten the double. But honestly, I polished it off with no problem. And as always, it was delicious!
Georgia-Carolina State Fair
Up next, we headed back to Downtown Augusta for the Georgia-Carolina State Fair. It was a perfect day for the fair. And we were surprised there weren't more people out there. We had my stepdaughter, so we were glad to have something to get us out of the house. I have to be honest, after our burgers, we didn't get any fair food!
But we did walk around and check everything out and rode some of the rides. I rode some... and I let David and Alexis ride the ones that were extreme-- like going upside down or fast drops! We spent a couple hours out there and had a great time.
Puppies!
We wrapped up our day out by heading to a friend's house. Her dog just had puppies a few weeks ago. So of course, I took advantage of another chance to get some puppy snuggles. And I got lots of them. The pups are now way more active than the last time I saw them. They were walking around, playing with toys, and even chewing on my shoes, jeans, and fingers!
Not going to lie... I fell in love! There was one in particular who came over and was chewing on my jeans. I put him in my lap, and next thing I know, he was knocked out... fast asleep! I picked him up and cradled him for another 30-45 minutes.
Overall, I had a great Saturday. Of course, typically we'd be at home watching football this time of year, but Georgia had a bye week, so we took advantage of the time to get out and do some fun stuff!
Cody and Alexis

Before the walk, we stopped by to take a few photos with the props!
Cody and Dee Griffin

I was excited to have the opportunity to co-host the Miracle Mile Walk with Dee Griffin from WJBF.

Supporting our friend, Crystal! Getting ready to walk!
The Crowd

Just look at that sea of people walking!
Finished!

Lunch Time

We went to Edgefield, and we can't go through there at lunch time without stopping for a burger at Edgefield Pool Room!
Georgia-Carolina State Fair

The Ferris Wheel is one of my favorite things at the fair. Even though it does go high, at least it doesn't go too fast!
The Thunder Bolt

One of the few rides I rode. Kinda reminds me of the old-school Himalayan ride... Remember that one?
Ferris Wheel Time

A perfect, clear day to see all of Augusta from the top of the Ferris Wheel!
Another Ferris Wheel Photo

Trying to get the skyline of Augusta in the background!
Fair Food

While we didn't get any fair food... there was plenty of options to choose from!
The Carousel

Another fair MUST-- the Carousel! This one was actually 2 levels!
Puppy!

Just look at this sweet thing climbing on my lap!
Sweet, Sleepy Baby

This sweet boy snuggled in my lap and fell asleep!
