One of the smallest towns in South Carolina is in McCormick County. Plum Branch, SC, has a population of 82. Some may even call this a tiny town.
The downtown area is mostly boarded up except for the post office, a repair shop, a convenience store, and a few churches.
Lake Thurmond
The crown jewel of Plum Branch is 70,000-acre Lake Thurmond, or as many still call it, Clarks Hill Lake.
Hamilton Branch State Park in Plum Branch offers lakefront camping, boating, and fishing. The 12-mile Stevens Creek Bike Trail is also accessible from the state park.
Smallest Towns In South Carolina
Many years ago, the one big store in the area once sold just about everything. Bracknell’s still stands today, and its name stands tall on top of the building. It had four floors with clothing for ladies and men. It also included a supermarket and even sold appliances. The store closed around 1980.
A great little piece of history that was fun to visit this past weekend. Plum Branch
