The Boat Club

I lived in Florida for a few years and discovered this dive bar in Tarpon Springs, Florida. It's called the Boat Club. This bar, on the Anclote River, is 90 years old! Best Dive Bar In America.

The beer is cold and the building looks like it could fall into the river at any time. There is a boat in a tree out front, yes, in a tree. I've heard its from an old hurricane and ended up there, so, naturally, they just left it there.

This place is small and has a deck, if you're brave enough to walk on it and an outdoor seating area, with the cheap plastic chairs you see at Dollar General Store.

When I visited, I was like a kid in a candy store. I couldn't believe that I found this place and it was truly the biggest dive bar I had ever seen. I quickly started snapping pictures and ordered a cold beer and then another, and snapped some more pictures. The jukebox, the bathroom, the deck, the river and the bar. There was a great picture everywhere I looked, at least to this dive bar loving guy.

As I mentioned, this place has been there by the river for over 90 years.....and it looks like it. Like an 90 year old man who lived hard and drank hard and lived in the fast lane and stayed in the sun every chance he got. That's what it looked like. But, like the old man, this bar looks like it's still having fun.

If you go, make sure you order a simple beer. No craft beer here. But it's cold and the scenery is nice.

Where is your favorite dive bar? Here is the Best Dive Bar In America.
