It's a topic that will cause heated discussions and even bring out the passionate side of people who you may never see that side of.  Guns and the celebrities who support the NRA.  While this subject is one that in our lifetime, we'll never have an answer to the debate will go on.

NRA with close affiliations to the Republican Party, has in the past endorsed Democratic candidates, and made donations to candidates.  The main goal of the NRA when founded was to promote and encourage rifle shooting and target practice.  Today's NRA has become a gun rights lobbying organization while continuing to teach firearm safety and competency.

Reasons People Own Guns

The Second Amendment to The Constitution is the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

  • Protection of Property
  • Hunters
  • Death Threats
  • Protection of their family
  • Farmers
  • Business Owners
  • To help others should an emergency happen
  • Recreational shooting
  • Collecting

So there are many reasons why people choose to own guns.

Another area where the NRA receives a lot of support is from business.  Companies like Bass Pro Shops, and Cabela's,  to gun makers like Smith & Wesson, Colt, Ruger, and Beretta are corporate members and supporters

In 2023 an estimated 1.4 million guns were sold monthly from January to May according to Safe Home.Org.  Texas and Florida lead the nation in total estimated gun sales, making up about 14% of all guns sold nationwide.   In 2022, approximately 17.4 million guns were sold in the United States.   That's about 12% fewer than in 2021.

With this being an election year, and the mass shootings we've seen over the years, gun control and gun ownership will be a big topic that we will hear a lot about on the campaign trail and you'll see come of these big names in support of gun rights and gun owners rights.
