Augusta is a great place to live. I love day trips, and there are plenty of great cities. All that can be done in a day. We can day-trip to the coast, mountains, and towns with lots to do. Day-trippin' - Four Great Getaways Near Augusta.

Here are my four Trip Tips for a successful day trip:

1- Leave early. I usually leave around 5-6 AM. It gives me more time to enjoy the place I'm daytrippin' to.

2- Have a plan. I usually map out my trips and have some things I would like to see while there.

3- Food! Part of my plan is to have lunch at one of the local restaurants, preferably a hamburger joint.

4- Do your research before going. You can find out online where all the cool places are in the towns you are visiting, saving you a lot of time.

These are just four of my favorites, but as I mentioned before, we are fortunate to live in an area that is close to some really cool small towns, beaches, and cities. I have been taking road trips about every weekend. Being on a back road and going somewhere I've never been is therapeutic and gives me time to live in the moment. All of the 4-day trips here are also places with a great food scene. Seafood is great in Folly and Beaufort, and downtown Greenville has some of the best restaurants in the south; Athens has some good ones, too. One thing in common with all of these on my list is they all have great downtowns.

I hope you can visit my four favorites soon, and I would love to know what you think. Make a good playlist and hit the road with the windows down, and discover new things. Have fun and safe travels!

Here's another of my past Day Trips.

Greenville, SC

I always find a great place to eat on each of my day trips, and I love discovering new places. One of my favorites is a place I used to live. Greenville, SC. Downtown Greenville is alive with live bands, great restaurants, festivals throughout the year, and The Falls at Reedy River Park. Augusta to Greenville is about a 2hr 20min drive.

Beaufort, SC

This small low country town has a historic downtown, with waterfront restaurants and shops. You can also take boat tours and visit nearby Fripp Island and Hunting Island Beach. Augusta to Beaufort is a a 2hr 30min trip.

Folly Beach, SC

This small beach town outside of Charleston is my favorite getaway. There's plenty to do on Center Street with restaurants and small bars. Also, the ocean front tiki hut at The Tides Hotel is Folly at it's best. It will take you little over 3hr to get to Folly Beach from Augusta.

Athens, GA

This small town in Georgia is more than a football team, although the Georgia Bulldogs bring thousands of fans to this college town each fall. There's something for everyone in the downtown area. Augusta to Athens 1hr 50min.
