I’ve lived in the Augusta area for over 6 years now. I moved here in 2017. And of course, I heard all about the Kicks 99 Guitar Pull. But I actually had never been to one until I started working at Kicks back in 2021. That means I’ve only had the Guitar Pull experience TWICE! But a lot of what makes the show… is the Guitar Pull lineup. And I’ll share my ultimate top 5 list below!
Country Concerts
Before living in the Augusta area, I’d been to some great country shows. But I’ll be honest, there’s nothing like a Kicks 99 Guitar Pull. People talked about it… but I didn’t really get what the hype was all about. So in my first few years here, I just heard about it and saw the occasional photo from the show. But it’s something that’s hard to understand until you experience it!
In 2021, I not only got to see the show… I was behind the scenes working it. I will say, there’s a LOT that goes into Guitar Pull! There are the months that lead up to the show. And of course, the higher-ups really start working on the next one as soon as the current one is over (or maybe even before then)!
My First Guitar Pull
Now, in 2021, I was in for quite an eye-opening experience. Since I’d never been to the show, I had absolutely NO idea what to expect. But on top of that, I got there SUPER early that morning. And then spent the rest of the day at the James Brown Arena capturing so many cool behind-the-scenes moments. That night, I got to see my first Guitar Pull ever. And it all made sense. I could finally see what everyone had always talked about.
My first experience was a unique one, for sure. And it was so cool to see how it all came together. Because if I’m being honest, there were moments leading up to the show that I’m like… What is going on? How is this going to all come together? But it does. It’s like MAGIC!
There’s a lot of work that goes into the show. I know that now. And I am so thankful for every single person who has poured their heart and soul into this show to make it happen every year. It truly is a unique experience that we are so lucky to have in Augusta. And I can’t wait to find out who will be on the Kicks 99 Guitar Pull lineup this year.
