Country Music Fact Of The Day

Image was taken during the golden hour, just an hour before the sundown,of an acoustic guitar wich its chords leads people’s eye straight to the sunset.

It's not often you get to celebrate a man for two major reasons on the same day. Merle Haggard Is your Country Music Fact Of The Day.

It was on this date April 6, 1937, Merle Ronald Haggard was born.  79 years later, Merle Ronald Haggard passed away.  It happened with Merle.  It was fitting that it happened this way because Merle didn't do anything by the books or normal.

7 years ago today Ben Haggard, Merle's youngest son posted this to Facebook to the world know that Merle had passed

The last time I saw Merle Haggard was January 24th in Grovetown with my friend Chris Janson. Chris was an unsigned artist who was friends with Merle and loved Merles music than anyone else I know.  I never got to meet Merle, and to be honest, I don't know if I could have done it.  I know I would have cried and been speechless.  To be honest, I cried the day he died and 7 years later, it feels like he just left us.

To sum up, as if you can, from his own biography, Merle wrote this as the forward to his book and his summary on his life

"I've lived through 17 stays in penal institutions. Incarceration in a penitentiary. Five marriages, bankruptcy, a broken back, brawls, shooting incidents, swindlings, sickness, the death of loved ones and more. I've heard tens of thousands chant my name when I couldn't hear the voice of my own soul. I wondered if God was listening and I was sure no one else was."
