Monday Motivation usually consists of inspiring quotes to start the week in order to ‘get up and go’ and energize us to help get our week started. And I am a big fan of all the inspiration that comes with Monday Motivation. But we can be so busy during our weekends either working or even having fun can keep us busy or doing chores, that no one talks enough about REST. Just saying the word ‘rest’ can make you take a deep breath sometimes. So yes, this Monday Motivation is about resting!
I am all about going to the gym to keep myself fit and I did just that over the weekend. I also worked and caught up on chores but the chores will always be there, so naturally there will be more to do today, but I won’t focus on that as much. Because again, that stuff will always be there. Which can make it difficult sometimes to find time to rest.
I like this quote from this article I read:
“Rest is more than a solution; it’s a habit that everyone should have access to on a regular basis.”
I love how the author said that even something as small as taking a deep breath while you’re waiting for a pot of water to boil for some tea or while making dinner, can be a form of ‘resting’.
She also said ‘“It’s more difficult to rest when your only goal is to become more productive. Instead, intentions like self-respect, mental and emotional healing, and opening up space for creative inspiration are more sustainable and appealing than just getting more done."

And I would like to share three ways that I ‘motivate’ myself to rest:
Sleep
Any article you read on resting is going to suggest this as the number one way to rest. And I have to agree. It’s hard to get motivated and be on the go if you’re exhausted. I’m a big fan of naps and even just 20 minutes of a nap can be helpful.
A bath and body routine
Taking a shower and using good smelling soaps and scrubs and always make me feel relaxed. Also, lotions and really taking the time to do my nightly skincare routine helps me to rest easier.
Making a healthy meal with my daughter
It doesn’t have to be a meal that takes long to make either. It could be as simple as this salad we make weekly. The reason why I like my daughter to participate is because not only does she get a learning experience out of the deal, but it can take the load off of doing one ‘chore’ for the day. Then we eat and talk about our day which helps me rest easier too.
