Now keep in mind, this is not a scientific poll or survey at all. Just one guy, on Kicks 99, who loves cereal and loves to use the heat of the kitchen as an excuse for a grown man to have cereal for dinner when he wants.
Growing up as a kid, a new cereal box in the house was a big deal. It was even more of a big deal if it was your week to pick it out. When you have 7 brothers and sisters, you had to wait your turn. Even worse than when you had to wait your turn, Mom doing the grocery shopping without you and she picked up Cheerios or the off-brand of Fruit Loops.
The largest cereal brand in the U.S. is Cheerios, with sales of $435.9 million and 139.1 million boxes sold yearly. As of 2022, the U.S. cereal industry has a market size of $20.59 billion. In total, Americans eat roughly 2.7 billion boxes of cereal every year.
Most Popular Cereals By Sales
According to Food and Wine, these are the most popular by sales in The United States.
- Cheerios
- Rice Krispies
- Chex
- Special K
- Lucky Charms
- Cinnamon Toast Crunch
- Kellogg's Froot Loops

- Honey Nut Cheerios
Now my unofficial list to keep the kitchen cool will look a lot different.
Other than the cereal, why did we love it so much, That's easy, it was the PRIZE in the box! The prizes of course were used to get us kids to beg our parents to buy more and more cereal, so we could get all the prizes. Also on the cereal boxes would be quizzes, search a word, cross word puzzles and coloring pictures.
So here comes my unofficial, and unscientific poll of the greatest cereals to eat to help keep the kitchen cool. Now I hope I made you wanna run to the grocery store. Enjoy!
#10-Apple Jacks

This one almost didn't make the list, but it's a sweet taste and I like sweet cereal
#9-Corn Flakes
Now this one is tasty, but if you add some sugar, Boom!
#8-Honey Smacks
These replaced the original Sugar Smacks. I guess too much sugar!
#7-Rice Krispies
Now these were the bomb. Once they started doing chocolate, and other flavors. Then of course came, the Rice Krispies Treats.
#6-Lucky Charms
Now why wouldn't I have this on the list. They Are Magically Delicious. Now you know you just sang that!
#5-Corn Pops
The thing I loved as a kid with this cereal was how the milk tasted after you were done. A treat within it self.
#4-Fruity Pebbles
Another great cereal that got even better once they added flavors. Come on, It's Fred And Barney
#3-Cheerio's
This is the best selling cereal in the world. Even without the sugar and strawberries, it's still high on my list.
#2-Fuit Loops
Now to be honest, this one could have been number one, also. It just depends on the day I made this list.
#1-Honey Combs
This was my favorite cereal as a kid. The longer it sat in the milk and got soggy, the better it was. That stands true to this day.
