There’s a lot to be learned on TikTok, some good and some bad, and this recipe is definitely one of the good things my daughter and I learned how to cook thanks to a TikTok account where a woman makes her mom’s famous crunchy tacos.
The only downfall to some TikTok recipe videos is that there aren’t exact measurements or directions, but we made do and these came out delicious!
Ingredients
Here’s a list of what you’ll need:
- sea salt
- 2 Idaho Potatoes
- 1 Rotisserie Chicken
- 1 can fire roasted tomatoes
- Mexican shredded cheese
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- cumin
- black pepper
- granulated chicken bouillon
- salsa verde (optional)
- white corn tortillas
- vegetable oil

Boil potatoes
I boiled mine whole like the video calls for, but you can definitely save time by peeling and chopping the potatoes and then boiling them. I also added a dash of sea salt as she does in the video.
While the potatoes are boiling, shred your chicken.

Mix up everything except for the cheese
Once the potatoes were boiled, I mashed them slightly with a potato masher. Then put them back in the same pot that I boiled them in and added shredded chicken, one can of fire roasted tomatoes, about a tablespoon of each garlic powder, onion powder, granulated bouillon, cumin, and half tablespoon of each garlic salt and black pepper.

Warm tortillas, build, and then fry
This is the part of the video where the instructions were kind of vague. She said she warms up the tortillas, but doesn’t exactly say how. So I wrapped tortillas in a damp paper towel and warmed them up in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then added the filling to each taco and topped with cheese. I think at this point she warms them up in a pan to crisp them up. I skipped that part and went straight into frying them. You don’t need a ton of vegetable oil to fry them. I used quite a bit but you really only need about 1/4 inch in the pan. Cook until brown on both sides, flipping after 3 minutes or so.

Making sure they’re kid approved

Success! Hope you try them and love them as much as we did!
