June 26 is National Canoe Day, a day dedicated to the joy of canoeing. With summer finally, here, I have seen a lot more people getting out on the water and canoeing in Augusta.

Canoeing can be a great way to get some peace and relaxation in nature. It’s also a form of outdoor exercise.

How to Celebrate National Canoe Day

• Go Canoeing!

Augusta has many bodies of water appropriate for canoeing. There are also a ton of businesses that offer group trips in canoes or even renting out your own canoe for a period of time.

Below is a list of places to canoe in Augusta. Most of these have both canoeing and kayaking, while some just specialize in kayaking. While canoeing and kayaking are not the same, I decided to mention those spots too, even though it’s not National Kayak Day!

• Two Dudes and a Boat

  They offer different ways that you can get out and canoe to explore the water. Whether you want to ride off into the sunset or watch the fireworks from your canoe, they have those options. For more click here.

• CSRA Kayak Rentals

  They also offer different paddle rides that you can enjoy. For more, click here.

• Savannah Rapids Kayak Rental

  Every day from 9am to 3pm you have the opportunity to rent a kayak or a boat. Walk up business accepted from 10am to 2:30pm For more, click here .

• Riverwalk Marina Gift Shop

  This gift shop is located at the heart of the Riverwalk. You can choose to rent a canoe or kayak.

  This is a location that you will see many canoers and kayakers. You have the unique opportunity to experience 18 square miles of Georgia’s most serene water trails and uncommon wildlife by paddling a Lake, River and Canal-all within a few miles of one another. For more, click here.
