If I had to build a wrestling Mount Rushmore, who would be on it? With WrestleMania 40 coming up this weekend, I really started thinking about that. I mean think about it, narrowing a huge list of people it could be down to just four, that’s pretty dang tough. So I’ve thought long and hard about this. Honestly, I’ve probably thought about it longer than I should have, but I think I’ve come up with my wrestling Mount Rushmore.

Who Makes The Mountain?

So I’ve been a wrestling fan since I was a little kid. Heck, if it weren’t for wrestling, I don’t know if I ever would’ve found myself on the radio. I’ve seen lots of great wrestlers come and go over the years. However, I’ve got to narrow it down to just four. I mean you can’t just add faces to Mount Rushmore.

Now let me preface this by saying, this is just my wrestling Mount Rushmore. I’m not saying these guys are the only ones that should be considered. This is my top four.

Was there a criteria to make my list? Sure there was. These were probably my four favorite wrestlers growing up. However, the majority of them were also household names too. Even if you didn’t watch wrestling on the regular, odds are you probably knew who these guys were.

Now before we get into my wrestling Mount Rushmore, let me throw a few honorable mentions out there. These are the ones that didn’t make my list but came dang close.

Wrestling Mount Rushmore Honorable Mentions

  • Ric Flair
  • Rowdy Roddy Piper
  • Dusty Rhodes
  • John Cena
  • Andre The Giant
  • Sting
  • Macho Man Randy Savage

I know you’re probably looking at that list and thinking, how could you not have that guy on your list? I told you, this was a tough one to come up with!

So here ya go, this is my wrestling Mount Rushmore.

  • Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan was my favorite wrestler when I was a kid. I had all of the action figures, heck I even took Hulk Hogan chewable vitamins. He was a megastar in the 80s and 90s. He became a pop culture icon. Even if you didn’t know much about wrestling, you knew who Hulk Hogan was. So Hogan is the first face on my wrestling Mount Rushmore.

  • Shawn Michaels

In the mid 90s, I was all about Shawn Michaels. He was one of the greatest in ring performers ever! Shawn had so many great matches throughout his career, and he really carried the WWF in the mid 90s. I had the privilege to see Shawn’s last match in WWE at WrestleMania 26, and I was there the next year when he was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. Shawn goes next to Hogan on my wrestling Mount Rushmore.

  • Stone Cold Steve Austin

If you were a wrestling fan in the late 90s, odds are you were a Stone Cold Steve Austin fan. Stone Cold, like Hulk Hogan, became a megastar in the late 90s. Everyone knew who he was, whether you followed wrestling or not. His merchandise sold like crazy, and he had some of the biggest WrestleMania matches in history. So put Stone Cold next to Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels on my mountain.

You can’t have a mountain without The Rock! The Rock is rounding out my wrestling Mount Rushmore. He is another guy that transcended wrestling. He not only became one of the biggest wrestlers in the world, but he became one of the biggest stars in the world. The Rock is another guy that everyone knows, even those who aren’t big wrestling fans. Also he’s probably the greatest talker in the history of WWE.
