On This day, August 3, 1999, according to Roland and Note, The Country Music Association announces the nominees for the CMA Awards!   Tim McGraw led the pack with 7 nominations, followed by Vince Gill with 5 and George Strait with 4!

Tim won Male Vocalist Of The Year and Album of the year.  Vince Gill won the CMA Vocal Event Of The Year for My Kinda Woman/My Kinda Man!

    From The CMA Album of The Year, A Place In The Sun, “Somethings Never Change”  This went number one in Canada and hit #7 here in the states

    Another big from The CMA Album of The Year.  “Something Like That” This monster went to #1 and also was the most played song of first decade of the 2000’s!

    This was the first release from the “A Place In The Sun” and spent 3 weeks at number one only to bee knocked off by George Strait

  • My Next 30 Years

    Can you see now why this was The Album of The Year in 1999?  “My Next Thirty Years” was also on the “A Place In The Sun” release!  Written by Phil Vassar and yep, It went number 1!

  • My Kind of Woman/My Kind of Man

    The winner of the CMA Vocal Event Of The Year for My Kinda Woman/My Kinda Man!  While it did well on The CMA Awards, It only went to 27 on the country music chart
