The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has issued a statement to address a recent viral video.  The video in question was posted on TikTok and shows a young woman sitting in a "stolen" RCSO car. Along with the video, the caption "POV: YOUR BESTFRIEND STOLE A POLICE CAR" is on the screen.

In their response, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office says they are aware of the video showing a civilian in the driver's seat of one of their patrol cars. After the Criminal Investigation Division looked into the incident, it was determined the vehicle was actually not stolen.  However, there is still an ongoing investigation.

Before the original video was removed from the TikTok account, it seems someone saved it and shared on Facebook.

The TikTok account for @ammarietammera now has a video that shows a blacked-out screen, with the message, "Removed for: "Criminal activities". On that same video, there's a caption that reads: Story time coming.

The Augusta Press has more on the story.
