Looking Back To 2010 – The First Kicks99 Guitar Pull In The James Brown Arena
Of course, I’m sure you know by now this is the 25th anniversary of the Kicks99 Guitar Pull. As we celebrate 25 years, it’s fun to look back on all of the memories we’ve made, and we’ve made a bunch let me tell ya. This week, I want to look back at the 2010 show. The 2010 Guitar Pull was significant because it was the first Kicks99 Guitar Pull held at the James Brown Arena.
Guitar Pull 2010 Was A BIG Show
This show was a big one for us, for a bunch of reasons. The 2010 Kicks99 Guitar Pull was the first one held at the James Brown Arena. When this show started in 1999 at Sacred Heart Cultural Center, no one would have ever guessed that just a decade later we’d be selling out an 8,000-seat arena. Guitar Pull had outgrown every venue it had been in up to that point, so the biggest we could do was James Brown Arena.
We had a big lineup for the 2010 Kicks99 Guitar Pull. Jason Aldean made his second Guitar Pull appearance that year, and he was on the cusp of becoming one of the biggest names in country music. We also had country legend Vince Gill on that show. Darius Rucker made his first Guitar Pull appearance that year. Montgomery Gentry, Easton Corbin, and The Band Perry rounded out the 2010 lineup.
It was an amazing night, filled with hit songs and lots of singing along. The 2010 Kicks99 Guitar Pull was the first of 13 sold-out shows that we would do at the James Brown Arena over the years. And while the JBA may be closed, as we prepare for the new arena to be built, the memories we made there over the years will live on forever.
