The dates are in for the Augusta Greek Festival! Just hours ago via Facebook, it was announced that the dates the festival will be held are May 10, May 11, and May 12. On Friday, May 11, the event kicks off at 11 am.

The location will be Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with the address of 953 Telfair Street, Augusta, GA.

Not much else has been released regarding the Greek Festival. We do know that if it's like any of the past years there will be music, activities, and of course, food.

Augusta Greek Festival Food

Greek delicacies are served at the festival such as Gyros, Souvlaki, and Feta Fries. Souvlaki is a marinated meat grilled on a skewer. It is traditionally served with pork but can be interchanged with any meat such as chicken or lamb. You can either eat it right off the skewer or you can place the meat in a warm pita bread with veggies or other toppings.

Another item many people look forward to at the Greek Festival is the desserts. One of the most popular desserts is the Baklava. Baklava is a layered dessert made of filo pastry sheets filled with nuts and honey or sweetened syrup.

At the festival, they usually have many types of Baklava not just the traditional one. On the menu in previous years there has been cheesecake baklava, chocolate baklava, and more. And don't think the desserts stop there!

This is an event that many people in the CSRA look forward to. The Spring Greek Festival, as well as the Fall Greek Festival. That's right, this festival doesn't just come once a year. We will have to keep an eye out for what details are next to come - possibly a solidified menu. We will see!

I have not yet had the opportunity to go to the Greek Festival, but many people rave about it.
