My Visit To The 9/11 Memorial In New York

This is one of the saddest places I’ve ever been, but its a place I think everyone should visit at least once.

I'll never forget the time I visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York. It's crazy to think that it's been 22 years since the attacks happened. This is one of those days that you'll always remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard about what happened. I was a sophomore in high school and we were in 2nd period when it happened. The rest of the day was spent watching all of the coverage on TV in the classroom.

In May of 2013, my friend Sean and I took a trip up to New York City. Of course, there was so much to see, and so many places to visit. One of the places we wanted to see was the 9/11 Memorial. It had just opened. In fact, it wasn't even totally complete yet. The pools were open, but the 9/11 museum was set to open a few weeks after our visit.

We took the Staten Island Ferry over to Manhattan and then took the subway to as close as we could get to the 9/11 Memorial, and we walked the rest of the way. As we were walking up to the 9/11 Memorial, I just couldn't help but to be sad. All I could think about were the people running for their lives on these same streets I'm walking on right now.

It was one of the most somber places I've ever been. There weren't a lot of people talking there. Everyone was being very quiet and paying their respects to the people who lost their lives on this very spot. If you're going to New York City, I would definitely recommend visiting the 9/11 Memorial. If you'd like more info on the Memorial, just click here.

The Feeling Is Indescribable

Words can't express the feelings you feel when you're standing at the 9/11 Memorial

Freedom Tower

When we went back in 2013, Freedom Tower wasn't quite finished yet, but it was incredible to see just how big it is.
