Lainey Wilson’s Fancy Footwork Before Stones Gig
Lainey Wilson’s weekend was one for the history books as she opened a show for the Rolling Stones.
Before the show, Lainey did a little dancing on stage in her street clothes during soundcheck. She posted a video of her doing some fancy footwork to Johnny Cash’s “Ghost Riders In The Sky” wearing a ball cap. She wrote over the clip, “When you get to open for the Rolling Stones.”
Wilson captioned the post, “Chicago, we’re rehearsed and ready for ya! It’s about to be a legendary night with @therollingstones.”
When we asked her about playing the opening slot for the rock icons, she said, “Can you believe that? I am getting to play a show with the Rolling Stones. Yep, they are gonna have to roll me up out of there cause that is absolutely insane.”
Lainey did get a chance to catch them in concert a few years ago when they played in Music City. She recalled, “I got to see them; I think it was 2016 or 2017 down here (Nashville) at the stadium because somebody from my hometown was going, and they got sick. It just worked out so I could actually see them. I thought, ‘I might not ever get a chance to see them again.'”

Wilson recently performed on the Today Show this week and chatted with the hosts about her upcoming album, Whirlwind.
Lainey said of the new project before she performed, “I feel like writing this record and recording this record; it made me feel at home, and it brought me a lot of peace when my life was constantly changing.” She added that she hopes that when everybody gets to hear it on August 23, it will make them feel “the same way.”
Wilson also could not help but mention the strain of performing so early in the morning. She said, “It’s pretty early,” but she was having “so much fun.” She noted she was not a “morning person,” but she might be if she could do mornings like this every morning.
While in the Big Apple, Lainey performed at Radio City Music Hall. She said that was a “bucket list moment” for her and her whole crew.
