It’s crazy to think that these country songs are turning 20 this year. Yes, 2004 was twenty years ago! How did that happen? Who allowed that to happen?! It absolutely doesn’t feel like twenty years have passed since these songs came out. However, a cool thing is, that a lot of them are just as good today as they were back in 2004.
What Was I Up To In 2004?
This is the most insane thing to think about. I graduated high school 20 years ago! How is that possible?! It just doesn’t feel real. Anyways, in 2004, I was graduating high school. Also in 2004, I was starting my second year as an employee of Kicks99. So I was lucky enough to play all of these songs when they were brand new.
So what were a few other things that happened for Kicks99 in 2004? Well, we moved into our current building in 2004. I can remember the day they flipped the switch and we started broadcasting from 4051 Jimmie Dyess Parkway. Again, that doesn’t seem like it’s been 20 years ago.
Other Things That Happened In 2004
Facebook, originally called TheFacebook started in 2004. Google started Gmail in 2004. Motorola released the Razr phone, y’all remember those? Everybody wanted one and they originally cost $499 at the time, which was an insane amount of money in 2004. The iPod mini and the Nintendo DS came out in 2004. As you can see, 2004 was a pretty cool year.
In country music, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, and Keith Urban were some of the biggest artists on the charts. They were all having songs that were staying at number one on the charts for multiple weeks. I apologize in advance if this list makes you feel old. If I’m being honest, I kinda feel old making it. But 2004 was a simpler time and its really fun to look back and reminisce.
