We got to tour the construction going on at The Bell Auditorium yesterday. There is a lot going on right now. When it’s all done, it’s going to bring that historic venue into the present. We were able to take a bunch of pictures, which we’ll share with you. Also we got to see the latest renderings for what a new James Brown Arena would look like.
When Will It Be Done?
Shout out to our friends at McKnight Construction and The Augusta Entertainment Complex for having us yesterday, and showing us around. What they’re doing at The Bell is really cool. From what we heard yesterday, everything is on schedule. The Bell should be set to reopen in the Spring of 2024, and it will look better than ever.
After we toured The Bell, we went over and saw the latest renderings of what a new James Brown Arena would look like. Of course this is going up for a vote in a few weeks. There is a C-SPLOST up for vote. It would be a half-penny sales tax that would fund a new James Brown Arena. From what we were told yesterday the new arena would be over 10,000 seats and feature 12 luxury suites and premium club spaces.
If you live in Richmond County, you can vote on this on November 7th. Also from what we’ve been told in the past, if the C-SPLOST passes, then they could break ground on the new JBA in the Spring of 2024.

Not long ago, we talked to Brad Usry about why we need a new arena. If you missed that conversation, you can hear it here.
These are some of the pictures we took of The Bell Auditorium construction yesterday and some of the new James Brown Arena renderings.
