April 24th Your Country Music Fact Of The Day

Image was taken during the golden hour, just an hour before the sundown,of an acoustic guitar wich its chords leads people’s eye straight to the sunset.

Jamey Johnson actually did come to Nashville to be a songwriter and spent years doing it before he got his own record deal and started making music of his own.  Over the years Jamey has written songs for some of the biggest names in country music, like George Strait, Joe Nichols, Trace Adkins, and Willie Nelson!

It was on this date, September 30, 2006, that George Strait took "Give It Away", a song written by Jamey Johnson to Number one on the Billboard Country Singles Chart.    It was George Strait's 41st number one song breaking the record held by Conway Twitty for the most number one songs.  Conway had 40 at the time.  George now holds the records for the most number one country songs ever at 60.

Jamey's only real comment on how big the song was: "It bought me my first house."
