Growing up in the restaurant business, I quickly learned about a meat and three ....it's southern for a meat and three sides—good old-fashioned southern cooking. I thought I'd dive in and give you my version of the Top 3 Meat and Threes in Augusta, in no particular order.

First, let's find out where the name started. Here's what I found out from our friends at Meat and Three

If you're from the South, you're probably familiar with the meat 'n' three. Many of us joined the throng of churchgoers making their way down the buffet line at the local restaurant during the Sunday lunch rush, filling our trays with the best comfort foods, second only to our grandmothers'.

For those who weren't fortunate enough to be raised around this Southern staple, a meat 'n' three is a cafeteria-style restaurant that serves a rotating or seasonal menu of meats and vegetables, which often changes daily.

For me, you have to have fried chicken on the menu. Some sort of steak with gravy, meat loaf, you get the idea. Also mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, mac and cheese and a boatload of desserts.

Also, no self-respecting meat and three place can serve a meal without biscuits.

Tell me about your favorite!
