3. Go grocery shopping! It’s considered bad luck to start the new year off with empty cabinets.
4. Stop by the bank too. Fill your wallet with cash for financial prosperity in the coming year.
5. Open your doors at midnight, even if it’s freezing! Let the old year out and welcome in the new year! Just keep an eye on your pets, we don’t want them to make a great escape!
6. Eat your collard green and black-eyed peas for good luck and prosperity!
7. Skip the lobster. Since lobsters move backwards, many cultures believe that eating lobster is bad luck and will set you back a year.
8. Get loud and make some noise! This originates from a superstition that making loud noise at midnight will scare evil spirits and omens away.
