Jess and her daughter Lexie give their reviews on ‘Hocus Pocus 2’
It’s getting closer to Halloween now and the fall chill has been in the air, so I feel like it’s finally time to get ready for ‘spooky season’. And what better way to do that then watching the new ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ movie on Disney Plus.
My 11 year old daughter Lexie has been excited about this movie since rumors started to swirl in 2019 that there would actually be a ‘Hocus Pocus 2’. And I have to admit, that I was excited too. I was my daughter’s age when the first ‘Hocus Pocus’ movie was released in 1993. And of course we had to watch that one before ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ because it’s one of our favorite movies.
So let’s get into the reviews. I’ll start with what I thought of ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ and you could probably guess that because the first one is my favorite, I’m going to tell you that it still is. For me, the sequels to movies just don’t add up to the first movie. However, I did like how this movie started with the Sanderson sisters as little girls. So it gave a little background to how they became witches in the first place. That was really cute. I also appreciated that ‘Billy Butcherson’ made a return in this movie as well because I thought he added humor to the first ‘Hocus Pocus’ and he did the same in this movie as well.
I do wish that more of the actors/actresses from the first ‘Hocus Pocus’ would have made cameos, but I read that the director really wanted to focus more on the new storyline for this movie.
The Sanderson Sisters had a funny moment in a Walgreens where they’re trying different products to remain youthful. That was definitely the most memorable and funny scene in the movie. There were also a couple of moments that only adults would understand, so I kind of appreciate Disney including that in for the adults so we don’t get bored.
Overall, ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ didn’t hold my attention as well as the original ‘Hocus Pocus’. Although it did have a different ending than I was expecting so I appreciate that. But, for me, I give it a 7/10. Definitely a must see because well…it’s a Disney movie and ya just have to!
Here’s my 11 year old daughter Lexie’s review:
’It felt like a typical Disney show with teenagers that have powers. But, I did like the ending. I would watch it again and I give it an 8/10.’
I think it’s safe to say that it’s kid and adult approved and hope you get to see ‘Hocus Pocus 2’!
