Red White And Boom In South Carolina-Georgia
It’s that time of the year! The fireworks stores are busy for the 4th of July weekend; as we know, people love fireworks, especially on the 4th. We’ll hear them all weekend. Red White And Boom In South Carolina-Georgia.
Up In Smoke
The average buyer will spend about $250 to light up their neighborhood sky. That’s a lot of money going up in smoke. I stopped by an area fireworks store today with some co-workers, and they are ready for the busy weekend. Wacky Wayne’s off Exit One in North Augusta, is one of the busiest fireworks stores in the area, and the parking lot will remain full all weekend.
Be Safe
Safety is always a concern each year and the National Safety Council has some tips for you again this year:
Fireworks Safety Tips: If You Choose to Use Legal Fireworks
If consumer fireworks are legal to buy where you live and you choose to use them, be sure to follow the following safety tips:
- Never allow young children to handle fireworks
- Older children should use them only under close adult supervision
- Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol
- Anyone using fireworks or standing nearby should wear protective eyewear
- Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands
- Never light them indoors
- Only use them away from people, houses, and flammable material
- Never point or throw fireworks at another person
- Only light one device at a time and maintain a safe distance after lighting
- Never ignite devices in a container
- Do not try to re-light or handle malfunctioning fireworks
- Soak both spent and unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding
- Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks that don’t go off or in case of fire
- Never use illegal fireworks
Hope you have a fun weekend and stay safe.
Happy 4th!
